Board goal 7: Waller ISD will provide the necessary financial resources for the support of the instructional program through prudent management and fiscal responsibility.

Waller ISD believes in providing our taxpayers with the information necessary to make informed decisions about the financial stability of the District. In efforts to increase the financial transparency of the District, we wish provide information in a format that is easily understandable to all community members.

The largest segment of the annual General Operating budget is for payroll and   employee benefits.  Careful consideration is given to each request for new positions. Hiring is focused on replacing staff that retire or leave the district for other job endeavors.  Any staff added has been to provide essential educational services for students.   The chart below gives a brief staffing history for the District.  Staff counts are given in FTE’s (Full Time Equivalent).

The school district tax rates are comprised of Maintenance & Operations (M&O)
and Interest & Sinking (I&S) tax rate.

  • Maintenance & Operations (M&O) tax rate is the local district tax rate that raises the revenue to operate and maintain the district’s normal day-to-day educational activities.
  • Interest & Sinking (I&S) tax rate is the district tax rate which raises revenue to pay for voter approved bonded debt obligations.

The M&O tax rate will remain the same at $1.04 per $100.00 of taxable valuation. The I&S tax rate will remain at $0.40 per $100.00 of taxable valuation. The combined rate of $1.44 per $100.00 of valuation has been the same adopted rate since the 2009 – 2010 fiscal year. Click on the button below for a visual tool regarding the tax rates.

The Tax Office has an excellent history of collecting property taxes on behalf of the District. The chart below is a summary of Tax Office operations for the last ten years. Tax collection data for the current 2015 – 2016 fiscal year will not be certified until the conclusion of the annual audit.

The largest source of revenue for the District is revenue from local property values. Click on the button below for the top District taxpayers.
